No. The microphone only turns on for features you enable, and only during a short timed session — started by shaking your phone, by a voice assistant shortcut, or by a detected crash or run. It stops automatically after about a minute, and never activates during a phone call. When it isn't in a session, it is off.

Only the members of the private family circles you choose to join, plus any emergency contacts you nominate when you trigger an SOS. Location is never public, never listed, and never shared with advertisers or data brokers. On the free plan, live location is shared with up to 2 members; Premium removes that limit.

Rather than summarise it vaguely, our Privacy Policy lists every single data type in a table — what it's used for, whether it's optional, and how long it's kept — along with all twelve of our service providers. It also covers your rights under GDPR, CCPA and the Australian Privacy Act.

Your account records, messages and circle data are stored in Google Cloud's Sydney region (australia-southeast1), in Australia. For full transparency: some background processing — scheduled jobs and notification delivery — currently runs on Google Cloud infrastructure in the United States. We're working to consolidate that into the Australian region.

Yes. Some features depend on device hardware and OS permissions — for example, background location behaves differently on iOS, and step-based run detection needs a pedometer. The app tells you when a feature isn't available on your device rather than failing silently.

It reads your phone's accelerometer and gyroscope and triggers above a force threshold you can tune yourself, anywhere from 2.5G (very sensitive) to 25G (severe impacts only). It is a helpful signal, not a guarantee — phones get dropped and real crashes get missed. Every detection gives you a cancel window before anyone is alerted.

Zone Tick is built to avoid always-on sensing. The microphone runs only in short sessions, and detection arms on a shake rather than listening continuously. Live location sharing is the heaviest feature — if battery matters more than continuous tracking, share location only while you need it.

Definitely not, and most families don't. A common starting point is SOS, notifications and emergency contacts. Add live location once everyone is comfortable, then crash or voice detection later. Our family safety guides walk through sensible setups.

Yes. Choose a plan above and complete secure checkout with Stripe — Apple Pay and Google Pay appear on supported devices. Use the email linked to your Zone Tick account and Premium unlocks automatically. You can also subscribe inside the app via Apple or Google billing.

Subscriptions bought in the app are cancelled in your App Store or Google Play account settings; web subscriptions are managed from the account menu on this site. To delete your account entirely, use Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app, or our account deletion page. You get a 30-day restore window, then everything is permanently erased.

Accounts must be created by someone aged 13 or over. A parent or guardian can set up and manage a circle that includes a minor in their care. Where we know a user is under 18, we don't serve personalised advertising to anyone, at any age — all ads in Zone Tick are non-personalised.

No — and we won't pretend otherwise. Zone Tick is a supplementary tool that depends on your phone, its battery, its sensors and a working network connection, and it can fail. In a life-threatening situation always call your local emergency number: 000 in Australia, 911 in the US, 999 in the UK, 112 across the EU.
